Website is Getting a Facelift

It’s been a while since our website has been updated, so now I’m starting on that project. Hopefully, it will be easier to navigate so that you can find all the information you want. We will be adding image galleries to each style page so we can not only include some of our latest images, but also be able to add images more easily and efficiently for your viewing pleasure.

The contact forms are going to be removed in preference of direct communication with our potential clients. In the future, all you need to do is email or call so that we can get started right away on planning your photo shoot with us!

In the process of these updates, I also found that our policy regarding non-refundable deposits may have been confusing. Therefore, I’ve added the policy at the end of each package description. It states, “A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the agreed package cost is required after the free consultation, if you choose to secure a shoot date”. It’s only fair that potential clients have the opportunity to learn about all we have to offer before making a financial commitment. On the other hand, we schedule with a team of individual professionals for each shoot, so it’s only fair for the client to commit to us too.

Within the next few days, our “Contact Us” page will include driving directions from various local areas. There will also be a page under this tab that explains the process from the time you contact us to the time you receive your photos…in only 10 steps!

I’m very excited about the creation of the “Artist Gallery” page under the “About Us” tab. We have the honor and pleasure of working with so many wonderful professionals and we want everyone to know who they are! Therefore, the Artist Gallery will feature our models, make-up artists, hair stylists, wardrobe designers, and whoever else joins our creative family. There will also be a link to their individual websites so you can see even more of their work.

If you have suggestions for the website, questions about the content, or other constructive comments, please feel free to email me directly at karla@probodyshots.com. Thanks!

Pro Body Shots Welcomes Angela Ryan!!!

We recently had a very special photo shoot with Angela Ryan. Not only is she a very talented model, she is a lot of fun too! Though she has the right to be a diva, she isn’t.

A lot of planning and set-up went into this shoot. Angela had a new, latex dress to show off. She and Tim decided on an industrial-themed background. My husband, who loves to design sets, gathered the random materials and built it. We had top-notch hair and make-up artists (Tara and Alex) creating their magic too. The combination of Angela in her fantastic dress, the awesome set, and Tim’s professional touch produced some knock-out photos! The heartbreaking part is that a week later, someone broke into Angela’s car and stole the dress. So, the only photos of her in this dress are the ones that we shot that night.

We also did a water fantasy shoot featuring Angela as a water goddess. It’s amazing how the right model can wear nothing but a necklace and bracelet and create art! They are really stunning photos. Of course, all of Angela’s photos are…but the ones from our studio provide an edge that the others can’t match.

It was really a fun shoot and we are looking forward to having Angela visit us again soon!

Studio Renovations Underway!

With all the creative energy flowing, we’ve decided to renovate the studio.  The reception, consultation, and gallery areas are to be completed first.  We knocked out a wall to provide more open space for a New York warehouse loft feel.  Concrete and chrome, cool and classy.  Accent pieces will be in bold black, crisp white, and rich reds.  While I was on vacation, everything was moved out of the space and the walls were prepared for painting.  I can’t wait for it to be finished!

Exposure Series: The Photo Shoot

A photo shoot at Pro Body Shots is full of energy.  The creativity from each of the artists (hair stylist, make-up artist, model, photographer) contribute to the overall excitement.  Every photo shoot is an event!

I love watching the photo shoots, because I learn new things every time.  One of the most interesting aspects that I’ve learned so far, is how hair and make-up that seem “over the top” are actually perfect for photos.  However, the smallest movements in a model’s pose can elicit different emotions when the photo is viewed.  Delicate looks into the distance, as opposed to looking up daringly through the eyelashes or both shoulders back and exposed, rather than one shoulder shyly forward, are examples.  These individual components are carefully orchestrated so that the final product is always a masterpiece!

I will be on vacation for the next two weeks, so look for the next blog entry the week of July 20th.  A lot of new things are in the works for the Pro Body Shots studio, so be sure to come back and visit!

Exposure Series: Hair & Make-Up Artistry

At the studio recently, I marveled at the hair stylists and make-up artists in action.  There is no question that these professionals are truly artists, as they take an idea and bring it to life.  Alex (www.modelmayhem.com/898804) created “real” dolls by applying her make-up magic to the models.  Make-up artist, Tara, (www.modelmayhem.com/1165472) and hair stylist extraordinaire, Tai, (www.myspace.com/cartelpink) transformed a beautiful “girl next door” model into a luscious vixen.  Faces and hair are these artists’ palettes.  As I watched, the desired concept developed and set the stage for amazing photographs.  Of course, it never hurts to have a talented photographer like Tim Bennett to capture it all on film!

Exposure Series: Creative Minds

I recently decided to leave my stressful career and take stock of what I really wanted to do with the “second phase” of my life.  I have been a freelance writer for the past 8 years as a hobby, so in my new-found spare time, I scanned the ads for writers and stumbled across one that really intrigued me – copy writer wanted for professional photography studio.

It didn’t take long after I met Tim and his personal assistant, Megan, to know that I wanted to be a part of this team of creative minds.  Tim has been a photographer for 20 years and Megan has been a model for the past 7, but they needed a wordsmith.  The collaboration that took place that afternoon was invigorating.  My mind was spinning with website and marketing ideas!  Pro Body Shots is all about “putting your fantasy on film”.  You tell them the fantasy, and provided it’s legal, they will strive to “make it happen” for your photo shoot.  This keeps the internal creativity flowing and new ideas are brought in by each client.
